Ever had a melody stuck in your head and wanted to quickly record it before you forgot? Well now you can with Apples new and free app, Music Memo. Music Memo allows you to record song ideas on the fly. Using the app is just as easy as Apples Voice Memo app. The idea is to start recording audio from any instrument without any compression on your recording. This app can do a lot more that simples recordings.
Music Memo includes a built-in tuner, a screen that displays the chords you are playing as you are playing them live and you’ll also get a bar that swings left and right as a sound approaches the semitone above or below it (just in case you needed to stay on point).
Once you’re done recording, a waveform appears at the bottom of the screen and you’re given an option to play it all back. Just above the waveforms you’ll find the chords/notes (or what Music Memos thinks) you recorded.
You’ll also have the option to add drums to your recording with just one click. The drums playback will match your recordings tempo.
Music Memo is now available for free in the App Store and runs on the iPhone 4s and later, as well as the iPad 2 and later.
