At times, hip hop beats are simple, and other times not so simple. Sometimes we hear sounds we wish we were able replicate and figure out how the producer made that sound.
Logic’s Sculpture is a powerful synth that simulates physical models of acoustic instruments. Few (including myself) Logic users actually use Sculpture because at first glance, it looks a little complicated. Without the need to adjust every parameter within the synth we can create a unique sound by just using the synth’s side chain.
In this tutorial we will be creating a trippy hip hop beat in the likes of Drake and Flying Lotus.
The affect is achieved by using our main set of drums to modulate the playback of Sculpture. We then will automate the “material” section in the synth to get an extremely unique sound that everyone listening to it will think you spent hours on it.
